Horizontal and Vertical Milling:
In an effort to meet the diverse demands of our customers, Thomas W. Springer, Inc. has invested in the quantity and types of machines needed to produce quality parts. With brand names like Tsugami, Haas, Kira, Takumi, and Fanuc we are confident that we have the capability to meet your needs. We are experts in machining Ultem® 1000 and many other plastics, Kovar, steel, stainless, aluminum, brass, beryllium and many other materials. Whether you need a “one off” plate or a production run of 10,000 precision electronic connectors, Thomas W. Springer, Inc. has you covered.
High-Speed Machining:
Always looking to the future, we’ve purchased our machining centers with “high speed” options. The 10,000 RPM spindles and software upgrades allow us to machine some materials at 100 inches per minute or even higher in some cases. Being able to accurately remove material faster translates into lower cycle times. Lower cycle times translate into greater cost savings for our customers. We consistently machine parts in our milling department to +/- .0005 on a daily basis.
Lights-Out Machining:
One of the fastest and easiest ways to reduce part cost is by running unattended shifts. We have taken great time to engineer and manufacture custom part-specific fixtures that allow us to do just that. While lights-out machining is not suitable for every part, many complex parts run around the clock and through the weekend while maintaining to the print accuracy. Machines with 128 tool capacity, 11 pallet fixtures with four sides per pallet, and broken tool detectors allow us to achieve this goal.
Renishaw Touch Probe:
Hard to machine features or hard to clamp and locate parts can equal headaches on the production floor. The Renishaw Touch Probe has eliminated many of these headaches for us. This touch probe allows us to locate tough to hold parts like raw castings. We can also check critical dimensions in the machine and make the necessary adjustments while the part is being run. Acting like a mini CMM inside the machine, the Renishaw Touch Probe has proven itself invaluable on many jobs.
Mastercam X and Predator Verification Software:
In an effort to fully utilize the functionality of our state-of-the-art machines, we have purchased what we feel are two of the best CAD / CAM systems on the market. Mastercam X delivers a fast and powerful NC programming package that allows us to get the most out of our multi-axis machines. Predator Verification Software allows us to simulate and verify machining operations on our PC in a virtual state. Both of these programs are used off line so there is no machine downtime during the programming and verification process. Doing this allows us to save literally thousands of dollars in idle time, broken tools, scrapped parts and machine crashes. This technology is beneficial to Thomas W. Springer, Inc. and our valuable customers.
