On July 15, 2014, Thomas W. Springer, Inc. installed an automated external defibrillator (AED). An AED is a portable electronic device that automatically diagnoses life-threatening cardiac arrhythmias in a patient, and is able to treat them through defibrillation, allowing the heart to reestablish an effective rhythm. Twelve of our employees were also certified by the American Red Cross in proper use of the AED and CPR techniques.
